In the long run I don't care anything about the whole d'affaire Sanford. I also know that some marriages survive infidelity and some don't. The reason we comment on this one is both sides have made stupid statements to the public. Most wives in the REAL world (not the loony Psalm 127 brigade) are not going to be thrilled hearing straying hubby say that he found his soulmate and maybe he'll be able to fall in love with her again....

I don't see where Sanford's wife has any responsibility in the matter and I'm not sure why anyone cares what she things about it.

Sanford should step down. That's the only right thing to do.

He won't. He thinks god is still guiding him by the johnson.

I had never heard of "The Fellowship" and did a google search ~ this must be what Gramps is referring to in his post #79 ~ but I found another article too in the same google search, from the LATimes in 2002 [which I'll post next] that made my blood run cold ~ ~ Sooz

The senator from NV is John Ensign. He made just one press conference and resigned his position as the 4th in power of the Republican Party. There hasn"t been that much in the news concerning him since then. Sanford on the other hand can't keep his mouth shut. Well, he finally has decided too, but its a little to late. I heard this morning that both Sanborn and the other fellow (from Nevada or Utah?) who recently was in the news for marital infidelity, are members of what was described as "a secretive Christian group". I think the name of the group was "the fellowship". I tell you folks, there is always something peculiar about people who are drawn to secretive religious groups. It's prima facie evidence that you cannot trust their judgement.

His wife is an idiot if she takes him back. His statements sound like he is head over heels in love with Maria. Then he's crossed the line with other women out of the country but never had sex with them. Yea, sure.

He also took his spiritual advisor with him to NYC to meet with Maria to break up, and he wanted his wife to meet her too. Oh, good grief.

Yes, I know Palin is one of them. For some reason, I have this thought bouncing around the back of my brain that another Republican governor was also caught charging personal expenses to the state around the time this was exposed for Palin, but I can't remember for certain to know if I'm remember truth or a figment of my own imagination.
